The weather is set to be cold and quite stormy for December 2011 with the possibility of some snow at times especially in more Northern areas of Ireland. Very deep areas of low pressure are skirting to the North so we are at risk of at least one big storm in the month. Temperatures are going to be around the normal 6 to 9c with some light frosts.

The 30 Day Weather Forecast is predicting a warmer period for Ireland to start July. Now the East and South of the country are going to get the best of this weather but it will be pleasant at times too in the West and North though here there will be small amounts of rain at times with the risk of more thundery outbursts after warmer spells. Cooler again by mid July with more showers and rain.

June has been a disaster so far weatherwise but before we write it off the last week and start of July should see more in the way of dry weather with just some low to medium rainfall at times in the Northern half of Ireland. Temperatures will be average.

Cool and Showery Warmer later

The next 30 days sees a lot of cool and showery weather from the Northwest. Thereafter coming to the end of the period it gets quite warm with High Pressure over Ireland and gentle winds once again. Temperatures of 21 or 22c possible for the end of May and start of June.

The Medium Range weather forecast for Ireland is promising more in the way of cool and unsettled weather after a dry and warm Friday and Saturday.

More unsettled 30 Days

The next month will see a lot of unsettled wet and showery weather over Ireland. THere will be dry spells too mainly in the South but the prevailing Southwesterlies are returning so we are going to see more in the way of our regular weather patterns in Ireland for the next 30 days. This will result in much more rain than we have been accustomed to of late and there will be windy days too.

Dry at First then Rain

The 30 Day Forecast model will see a dry and sometimes frosty first 2 weeks to the period with some light rain or sleet at times too but amounts overall will be quite low. Temperatures will be around 3 to 6c. Then for the following 2 weeks the Atlantic takes over bringing the temperatures into double figures for all of Ireland and with it bringing more in the way of wind and rain for the second half of February

Cold and Wintry, brief mild interlude

The cold wintry weather will last up to and including the Christmas with only brief milder spells and a lot of snow up to the Christmas itself. This is going to have a disasterous effect on the travel plans of millions and planes and trains will face major delays in Ireland and the UK.

The only possible light at the end of the tunnel for those with travel plans for the Christmas is that there may be a brief slow thaw from December 22nd onwards.

Big Freeze Continues

However temperatures will be very low indeed at 2 to 4c so expect any lying snow to hang around for much of the festive period.

It does look like a lot of people will not bother to travel at all from the UK as conditions here could be unprecidented for recent times and also parts of Northern Ireland and Leinster in Ireland where the main population bases are are going to get a lot of snow in the next week.

As we say there is a high likelihood of the cold weather lasting well into the New Year but weathergossip does not envisage there being as much snow as we have seen in the lead up to Christmas. In fact December may turn out to be the snowiest month of the Winter but it is still too early to say and January rarely brings quiet weather.

Wet and Windy at first

A wet and windy start ot the next 30 days of weather in Ireland and this weather will last up to about 10th October. Thereafter the weather stays generally wet or showery but perhaps not as windy. Temperatures are on the mild side of normal throughout so frosts at night are not a big problem. As we head to the end of October there will be a few night frosts.

Sept 30th - Oct 6th - Wet and Windy Temps 13 to 16c Some strong gusts from the South

Oct 7th - Oct 14th - Wet and Showery and winds have eased a bit Temps 14 - 16 or 17c

Oct 15th - Oct 22nd - Some dry spells but rain at times Temps 12 to 14c

Oct 23rd - Oct 31st - Some dry weather and cool nights Temps 11 to 14c

Dry and settled at first...

A lot of dry and settled weather to begin and this will last until September 3rd when some rain will move in from the West. Thereafter a low pressure system to the West of Ireland will start to bring a lot of rain, though the High Pressure to the North of Ireland still shows some signs of having a bearing on our weather so around September 7th there could be a return to some drier weather for a few days.

After 10th of Septeber things get more changeable though and Low pressure begins to dominate the weather and this type of weather regime will actually stay in place for the following 2 weeks until about September 24th.

Then there will be another East/West split like at the beginning of September as rain to the West battles some drier weather to the East of the country. Temperatures overall for the month of September are going to be well above normal.

Drier and Brighter

The forecast for the 30 days until the middle of August promises a lot of dry and bright weather up until the end of the first week in August. Then the weather looks set to break down once more with more rain or showers at times. Temperatures will be on the warm or mild side and has been the case for much of the Summer cool nights will be at a premium. Later in the period though as things get more unsettled there may be a few single figure nights. Daytime temperatures will be in the range 17 to 21c generally perhaps into the low twenties at times.

Warm for most of June/Thundery

The 30 Day Forecast predicts a cool end to May but things will warm up as we head into June. Most if not all of June should be warmer than average but from time to time there will be some very heavy thundery downpours associated with nearby LowPressure and a breakdown of the High
