Warm end to Summer

As the heady days of July now seem a distant memory to those of us in the Northwest it is pleasing to see that the next 2 weeks will have very mild or warm weather in Sligo. Some parts of Ireland will get 24 or 25c especially in South central parts and should the winds turn Southeast then the mid West. August ends with dry bright weather and a Southwest wind and temperatures of 20 to 23c. Then September starts with temperatures of 24c and it is like this for the first couple of days. After this there is cool and unsettled weather dangerously close to the North coast of Ireland but the South remains near 20c whereas 14c will be the temperature in Donegal.

Cold Weather Dominates

There will be a lot of cold weather for the next month with the risk of snow on occasions and a lot of frosty nights for Ireland. Temperatures as low as minus 10c cannot be ruled out as we head into February. The Atlantic is fighting a losing battle and there will only be a few mild days here and there but the predominant theme will be a cold one with temperatures of around 4 to 7c the norm. However there will be times when the weather will actually be colder than this and temperatures on these days will struggle above freezing. These days are most likely when the is frost or snow on the ground.
