30 Day Forecast for Ireland

 As we come to the end of March the big question everyone is asking is will the rain ever stop. March has seen over 1 and a half times the average rainfall for Ireland and the next week promises much more of the same. It won't be raining all of the time but there will be a lot of showers and some days will indeed be a lot more showery than others. 

The chances of snow have all but disappeared and now as we look towards April people are looking for some warmer weather. This weekend is actually going to be quite cool with the temperature getting down below MINUS 2 on Sunday night. Monday will be mostly fine with a few light showers but more unsettled then for the rest of next week with rain Tuesday and heavy showers for the rest of the week.

The first half of April will be cooler and showery than the second half of the month but believe it or not we may even get a named storm in the first half of April as some deep low pressure systems get near to our shores.

Later on in April conditions look set to get milder all over and rain should ease. 

Winter Weather Forecast 2022/23

 Winter 2022/23 looks set to maintain the same pattern of recent Winters in Ireland. This has been a mild first half with a slightly cooler second half to the season. This looks like it will happen this year again. 

October has certainly been a wet month and these conditions of heavy pulses of rain and sometimes strong winds looks set to continue all the way until November 10th. There could be over 100mm of rain between now and then with parts of the South getting the majority of this rainfall. Cork has already had flooding this Autumn and there could be some more flooding at the start of November as a low pressure system is threatening to bring more heavy rain here. 

All the way to November 10th the temperatures are going to be milder than normal in Ireland especially at nighttime. Daytime temperatures will be 14 or 15c and the night will be 8 to 11c so this would mean November would start with overall temperatures of nearly 2c above normal.

 After November 10th the weather at last begins to dry out. This will bring slightly cooler weather with highs during the day of 9c to 13c and nighttime temperatures down to 4 or 5c. As the High Pressure incoming in off the Atlantic there will be a lot of cloud around so nights again will not be particularly cold. 

This dry weather will probably last until November 20th and then we will see a more West to Southwesterly set up with a battleground between the mobile lows to the West and the High Pressure that will be situated to the Southeast over Europe. Temperatures will again climb to around 10c to 14c and nights not much cooler at about 8 to 11c. This will be because the moist air to the West will mean there is quite a good deal of cloud most of the time. 

Towards the end of November a little more in the way of cooler air as nights are now over 14 hours. Temperatures could hover near to 0c on one or two nights towards the end of November. 

December will start out cold with some frost before more unsettled conditions move in from the West with strong winds at times. There are some weak signals for some storms around this first week of December. Temperatures to start December will be 6c in Ulster to 10c in Munster. 

Storms fading around midmonth as more quiet yet mild weather sets in around the build up to Christmas. There may be a lot of cooler air to our North at this time and over the UK where snow cannot be ruled out. However temperatures of generally 7c to 14c in the period up to Christmas so very little chance of snow in Ireland before Christmas.

Christmas will likely be mild and wet with some wintry showers during brief clearances. During the clearing temperatures of 5 to 8c can be expected otherwise 10 to 13c. Some night frost can be expected too as we move nearer New Year's.

January 2023 looks set to bring Irelands coldest weather of the Winter though yet again there will still be some rain at times. Early January sees cold air over Ireland and wintry showers likely at times with hail and sleet. Some snow is likely on the mountains. After a brief milder spell around the 7th to 10th more cold weather follows and this vould bring some disruption especially to the North and Midlands. Temperatures around this period will be 2c to 4c at best and nights will be sub zero as low as minus 3 or 4. Slightly milder air will move in around mid month to melt the snow areas but as lows dive to the South it will continue to bring cold if not always snowy air to our shores. 

Much of January will see temperatures in the low single figures and snowfall is likely at times especially 11th to 14th period and 20th onwards from time to time. There may be also some heavy frost as we head towards February with temperatures as low as minus 7 not out of the question.

So in Summary

November Very Wet then drying out cooler and unsettled end.

December Unsettled and quite stormy at times. Wintry Showers towards the end.

January Coldest month of the Winter. Snowfall likely midmonth and towards the end.  

Unsettled and Cool, turning drier

 The weather for the next 30 days promises a lot of rain and wind for Ireland. As we saw on October 16th some very thundery outbreaks of rain caused widespread flooding around Cork City and County with 40 to 60mm of rain recorded on Sunday alone.

The coming week sees more wet and windy episodes and it could briefly turn stormy out West at times. There are several areas of low pressure becoming embedded in each other and it is causing quite a repetitive pattern along a quite active jetstream. 

So how long will this wet, windy and unsettled weather last? Well in around 7 to 10 days there are some signs that things may turn slightly more settled with High Pressure attempting to become more established over the country. There may still be some light rain or showers out to the North and West. 

Mixed August but still warm

 Irelands weather for August looks pretty mixed but quite warm mostly with temperatures ranging 16 to 24c most days. 

The start of the month is quite damp before some settled weather dominates until mid month. This will continue on and off after midmonth but by then there will be more disturbances in the North and West with cooler nights settling in too. 

Rainfall for the month in Ireland will not be as high as recent years but will be near normal in the West and North. 

Hot July for some

 July looks like it will be the hottest month of Summer 2022 as temperatures in the mid twenties will be widespread mid month. Parts of the West and North of Ireland have not seen temperatures above 20c in 2022 so this will be a welcome and sudden change. But almost as sudden will be a Thundery breakdown in the weather as we revert back to the cool unsettled weather with showers for the second half of July and temperatures in the mid teens once again. 

March cold and dry

 March has opened in a very cold fashion in Ireland with a lot of cold frosty nights. In fact there has been more frost in March than all of the rest of the Winter.

You may have noticed too that the grass and trees have gone brown too. This is a combination of the frost as well as storms of February.

Luckily the windy stormy weather for March didn't materialise and after a little rain on St Patrick's Day most of the rest of March should be dry with temperatures of 9c to 15c. Still some frosty nights though.

Storm Dudley and Eunice

 Wind speeds of 140kph likely this week. Northwest and Southwest most at risk.

Flooding and damage and power cuts are likely. More storms next week 

Snow Forecast for Ireland 2021

 There are increasing signs of snow in Ireland for Christmas 2021. From Wednesday temperatures fall into the low single figures and quite remarkably on Christmas Day the now arrives. It may last for a few days too especially in the Northern half.

 December's temperature will be around or below average for much of the time with just short milder intervals. Mid month seems like it will have the coldest spell before it turns mild again in time for Christmas. 

Week 1 cooler than normal some wintry showers but no prolonged cold.

Week 2 Quite windy and wet before winds turn East later in the period.

Week 3 Very cold and frosty possibly some light snow.

Week 4 Mild and Unsettled for the Christmas period 

Weather Forecast for June 2021 Ireland

 Well what a terribly cold May that was. Even colder than we predicted. The last few days of May will be pleasant 18 to 21c and the start of June looks set to continue this vein...for a while. 2021 is a year dominated by cold weather in Ireland.

After a warm first few days of June with thundery showers moving up from the South and temperatures in the early 20s the High Pressure weakens and is replaced by cooler unsettled weather again much like May. Probably not quite as cool but 14 to 17 or 18c around most days.

Rainfall will be above normal for the month. Temperatures around average in the West and below average in the East. Sunshine average as much rain will be heavy showers.

Late June might see a warming trend and more sunshine than rain. 

30 Day Weather Forecast May 2021 for Ireland

 May will be a cold month with unsettled spells and also quite breezy at times so no sign of Summer just yet. Things may warm up as we head towards the later part of the month. Temperatures are going to be about 3c BELOW normal over the course of the month rarely going above 15c.

Rainfall will be well up to normal even slightly above. Sunshine will be in short supply after the bright weather from April it will feel like we have gone backwards in season weather wise.

June has early indications of some much warmer weather but it remains to be seen how this actually pans out.

Cool and mostly dry. Cold at times at the start with a little wintry precipitation.

Temperatures around 4 or 5c at the start increasing to 10c by Christmas

January

A little stormier as the weather gets more mobile. Cool and unsettled with rain or sleet

at times. Temperatures 4 to 7c

Irelands Snow Forecast 2020

 Currently the next possibility for snow in Ireland is around the beginning of December 2020. It looks fairly light in nature but Eastern and Northern areas are currently most favoured.

Christmas Day currently looks 10c and dry.

Summer Weather Forecast for Ireland

Some long dry spells again this Summer but some short unsettled spells too.

June

Mild or even warm after a chilly start. The first days may even see some frost. Thereafter warm or very warm with temperatures up to 26c likely later in the month. Some thundery showers also but mist n drizzle will plague the North and West on occasion too keeping temperatures several degrees cooler here than in the rest of Ireland.

July

Same theme continues but the Northwest  Southeast split will be much more pronounced with rain in the North and West but only light showers in the South and East. Warm a lot of times in the Southeast but highest temperatures in the Northwest will tend to be 19 or 20c. Heavy rain to end July.

August

The year we finally see the first warm sunny August since 2003. Temperatures could even reach the high twenties as plumes of heat move up from Europe towards Ireland. Rain will hold off except at times in the West.

In the main the East of Ireland could experience some moderate drought conditions. The West will be more unsettled so soil moisture deficits should ease here from the end of May

30 Day Weather

A snowy April for Ireland? Well certainly a cold one with wintry showers a few days and even snow at times. And this is not an April Fools joke.

Temperatures of 6 to 10c by day will keep the snow away but by night they will be nearer to 0c so it could result in some whiteness by morning.

The week of 7th will be a lot drier but peak at just 12 or 13c. Then it looks like blustery showers for Easter.

Overall a rather normal April but it will just be colder than average so the only warm weather will appear by the close of the month when 16 or 17c is likely once again.

Rainfall will be normal or just below for the month while sunshine should be well up to normal with plenty of sunshine between fast moving shower activity.

30 Day Weather Forecast for Ireland

We are looking at things settling down over the coming days in Ireland starting on March 19th and ending on March 24th. Temperatures of 12 to 16c over this period.

From March 24th to 28th it becomes unsettled once again but probably not as wet as recently and in any case temperatures will still be 11 to 14c.

Moving into April cooler weather is signalled with showers in a Northerly wind and temperatures of just 7 to 10c. Showers will not be heavy.

In the long run April will not be nearly as volatile as March and it looks like some warmer spells will start appearing on the charts after week one.

30 Day Weather Forecast for Ireland

March 2019 will be wet wintry and cool at first for the first half of the month. Then it will become drier with less rain.

Temperatures for the month will start at below normal values but finish the month well above normal.

Some snow is expected in March especially around the 10th to 15th of the month.

Late month sees temperatures of 18 or 19c with high pressure to the fore.

Drier and Fair for the start of October for Ireland

After this conditions will slowly get colder and wetter.

By mid October frost is likely.

Unsettled with some Warm Spells

The rest of Spring looks like it is going to be very unsettled and showery and cold. However temperatures are set to rise as we head into May in Ireland with more in the way of sunshine and less showers. However there will not be a prolonged spell of settled weather and the sunny days will be sometimes cold liike the ones gone by.

Early May should see some decent dry days before more heavy rain or showers midmonth and this in turn will be followed by more in the way of quiet weather. Temperatures of 12 to 15 or 16c can be expected.

Warm end to Summer

As the heady days of July now seem a distant memory to those of us in the Northwest it is pleasing to see that the next 2 weeks will have very mild or warm weather in Sligo. Some parts of Ireland will get 24 or 25c especially in South central parts and should the winds turn Southeast then the mid West. August ends with dry bright weather and a Southwest wind and temperatures of 20 to 23c. Then September starts with temperatures of 24c and it is like this for the first couple of days. After this there is cool and unsettled weather dangerously close to the North coast of Ireland but the South remains near 20c whereas 14c will be the temperature in Donegal.
